Check a link
Been sent a pMsgsLite link and want to be sure of it before you open it? Paste it below.
The address check happens here. The link you paste is read in your browser. It is not sent to us or to anyone else, and no record is kept of what you checked.
The one exception is the button above, and only if you press it. Whether a link will open is a question only we can answer, so the ten-character id goes to us — not the rest of the line, not the message around it. We answer with one word and keep nothing.
What this can tell you is whether the address really belongs to this site — the thing a forged link gets wrong, and the thing that is hardest to see by eye in a chat window.
What it cannot tell you is who wrote the message or what it says. Those are for the person holding the link, and the only way to them is to open it.
Whether the link will open is the one further thing we will say, because the alternative is worse: without it the only way to find out is to open the link, and opening an invite is what uses it up. We would rather you could look first.
We never say why a link will not open. Opened already, withdrawn, or never one of ours — all three get the same answer, and the reason does not leave our server even to be ignored by this page. It is the reason a sign-in form will not tell you whether it was the name or the password you got wrong: an answer that narrows a guess is an answer worth guessing against.
One thing worth knowing: this page can only vouch for a link if you reached it yourself, by typing pmsgslite.com into your browser or using a bookmark. A checker reached by following a link from the message you are suspicious of can be forged along with it.
